Trade Candidate: Shane Victorino

Shane Victorino has been a cornerstone player for the Phillies for the good part of seven years, but with the recent struggles of the Phillies, they could be looking to trade some of their veteran players while they still have value and start a full-out rebuild. Victorino is currently hitting .260 in a league leading 49 games played. He also has 13 stolen bases. He has always been pretty durable and has had an underrated career. He is a switch-hitter, has speed, and has some power to his bat. He is a free agent after this season so he may get traded at the deadline. His teammate, Cole Hamels, is also a free agent after this season and if he goes to another team, the Phillies may decide to trade away other parts of their team such as Ryan Howard and Chase Utley. I believe Victorino could be traded at the deadline because he's durable, he's versatile, the outfield market is cheap, and is value has been declining so i'd expect the Phillies to get rid of him before it gets any lower. I could see the Nationals asking about him, and also the Marlins. The Nationals have needed a centerfielder for a while now and Victorino would be a big upgrade over Roger Bernadina. The Marlins could be seriously interested in Victorino because their center fielder Emilo Bonifacio is currently on the DL and may be there for a while. The Phillies desperately need a third baseman and I believe the Marlins-Phillies could be perfect trade partners. I can envision a trade like this making sense:


Marlins Receive: CF Shane Victorino
                             C+ Prospect

Phillies Receive: 3B Matt Dominguez
                         

Third baseman prospect Matt Dominguez is currently stuck behind Hanley Ramirez on the Marlins depth chart and could be expendable. If he were to be acquired by the Phillies, he would instantly become a cornerstone player for that team. The Marlins would receive Victorino and a decent prospect. I'm sure both teams would accept this deal in a heartbeat.
