Analysis: Sweeney has always been a tough player to decipher because he doesn't get that much playing time. Oakland shipped him to Boston in the Bailey trade this winter and Boston just expected Sweeney to be a stop-gap like player. He came right out of the gate and had a batting average that surpassed .300 for most of the season. He recently has struggled but his average is still high at .292. If you have Sweeney on your fantasy team, I'd suggest you drop him because he isn't going to provide you with much of anything. He'll get his hits occasionally but he doesn't steal bases and doesn't usually get that much playing time. Now here comes Ryan Kalish, a young outfielder who has had a few cups of coffee with Boston over the last few years. He is about to get a lot of playing time so I'd recommend you pick him up in your league. His minor league numbers show a good combination of speed and power. If he could translate those numbers to the big leagues, you would end up getting a steal.
