Brewers release Randy Wolf

The Brewers have released veteran pitcher Randy Wolf. Wolf was in his final season of a three year deal worth $29.75 million that he signed with Milwaukee after the 2009 season. The club recalled infielder Jeff Bianchi in a corresponding move. 

Wolf started 24 games for the Brewers this year, posting a 5.69 ERA in 142 1/3 innings. His contract included a club option for 2013 that was worth $10 million with a $1.5 million buyout. The Brewers will be responsible for the buyout. 

Analysis: Not a big surprise here. Milwaukee is looking to get younger and Wolf was pretty much just wasting a roster spot. However, I am pretty sure that Wolf will sign with another team. He is a very good #4 or #5 starting pitcher. He is an innings eater, and very durable. Also, if a team wants to sign him, they can get him for the MLB minimum which is $500k.
