Helton to undergo hip surgery, out for rest of season

The Rockies announced that first baseman Todd Helton will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Friday to repair a torn labrum in his right hip. Helton has been placed on the 15 day disabled list and Colorado reinstated Chris Nelson from the 15 day disabled list in a corresponding move.

Helton has hit .238 with seven homers and 38 RBI this season, and has had a sore hip since early June.
