Orioles acquire J.C. Romero

The Orioles have acquired pitcher J.C. Romero from the Indians in exchange for minor league infielder Carlos Rojas. Romero signed a minor league deal with Baltimore in May, but exercised his opt-out clause in July.

Romero signed a minor league deal with the Indians last month, and has posted a 2.74 ERA in 23 Triple-A innings since. According to Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Romero could have opted out of his contract on Wednesday, and Cleveland did not intend on bringing him up to the big leagues.

Rojas has hit .226 in 147 plate appearances in the minor leagues this season. He has also spent some minor league time in the Cubs' farm system and has never been called up to the big leagues.
