The Padres have designated outfielder Jeremy Hermida for assignment. The move allows the club to recall pitcher Andrew Werner from Triple-A.Hermida signed a one year, $800k deal with San Diego last off-season, and has spent a lot of time on the disabled list this year due to a strained hip flexor. He has appeared in 13 games for the Padres, but has spent the bulk of the 2012 season in Triple-A, where he has hit .252 in 170 plate appearances.
Analysis: Hermida will probably clear waivers. I don't think anyone will want to waste a roster spot on an injury-prone outfielder.
