The Padres have agreed to a contract extension with Mark Kotsay. The deal will keep him in San Diego through the 2013 season."Mark provides versatility and a very good late-game at-bat," GM Josh Byrnes said in a press conference today. "He brings invaluable leadership to our club and has become one of the key members of our team."
Kotsay has hit .275 with one homer in 111 plate appearances with San Diego this season. He earned trade interest from several teams last month.
