Analysis: Why? Francis is washed up. He is a pitcher that pitches to contact and is a horrible fit for Coors field. Saunders says in his article that Francis might get roughed up from time to time, but provides occasional solid starts. My question here is, Why would I want an inconsistent pitcher in my rebuilding rotation. Francis would probably be affordable, but it would be wrong to re-sign him.
