Velazquez outrighted to Triple-A

The Marlins have outrighted infielder Gil Velazquez to Triple-A after he cleared waivers this morning.

Miami designated him for assignment four days ago after he appeared in two games with the club. He spent most of the 2012 season in Triple-A, where he hit .314 in 421 plate appearances.

Analysis: Velazquez put up solid numbers in Triple-A but I'm not surprised that he cleared waivers. He is 32 years old would serve as infield depth at best.
