The Diamondbacks have designated infielder Cole Gillespie for assignment to create roster space for Mike Jacobs, who has been recalled from Triple-A.Gillespie has hit .308 with 13 homers in 510 plate appearances in Triple-A this season. Arizona originally acquired him in the Felipe Lopez deal back in 2009.
Analysis: Gillespie isn't a terrible hitter but I think he'll clear waivers because he is already 28 years old, and is practically a quadruple-A player.
