Orioles interested in Juan Pierre

The Orioles have some interest in trading for outfielder Juan Pierre, but the Phillies are not eager to trade him. Baltimore has been looking for an outfielder ever since Nick Markakis went down with a broken wrist a few days ago. Philadelphia won't get much in return for Pierre at this point of the season, so it seems likely that he will stay put.

Pierre signed a one year deal with the Phillies in January. He has definitely been a bargain, hitting .304 in 385 plate appearances. He also has 34 stolen bases in 40 attempts. He wouldn't be eligible for the playoffs if Baltimore or any team for that matter were to acquire him.

Analysis: I doubt that the Phillies would let Pierre go. I would imagine that they would want to retain Pierre and keep him as a key piece of that bench in 2013. Pierre is a very good bench player, and would play well with the Orioles, but I simply don't see the Phillies letting him go for basically nothing.
