Hampson outrighted off 40-man roster, hits free agency

The Mets have announced that left handed pitcher Justin Hampson has been outrighted off of the 40 man roster and will become a free agent.

Hampson appeared in ten games with the Mets in 2012, but spent the majority of the year in Triple-A, posting a 2.33 ERA with 65 2/3 innings.

Analysis: Hampson was pretty good with the Mets but I don't see him being anything special. This move will not impact anything- actually it is pretty understandable considering that the Rule 5 draft is coming up and the Mets need to put a few prospects, most notably Zack Wheeler and Darin Gorski, on the 40 man roster.
