Red Sox designate Lin for assignment

The Red Sox have designated outfielder Che-Hsuan Lin for assignment to create roster space for Sandy Rosario, who was recently claimed off of waivers from the Marlins.

Lin has hit a combined .256 over 2,750 career minor league plate appearances. He has named the MVP of the futures game in 2008 when he hit a two-run homer off of Ryan Mattheus.

Analysis: The hype is definitely there, but the numbers aren't. Lin really hasn't lived up to expectations but some team may take a flier on him considering he's only 24 years old.
