The Twins have declined their 2013 club option for pitcher Matt Capps. The option was worth $6 million, but Capps will now receive a $250k buyout instead.Capps posted a 3.68 ERA in 29 1/3 innings for Minnesota after signing a one year deal worth $4.75 million with them last off-season. He missed most of the second half of the season due to rotator cuff inflammation.
Minnesota originally acquired Capps from the Nationals a few years ago, shipping Wilson Ramos out to Washington in the process.
Analysis: Capps was alright when healthy but is definitely not worth $6 million. However, I expect him to get a decent contract from someone, and serve as their setup man. He still has something left in the tank, and if he can stay on the field he'll be a force to be reckoned with once again.
