The Rangers have claimed catcher Konrad Schmidt off of waivers from the Diamondbacks.Schmidt spent most of the 2012 season in Triple-A, hitting .277 with 7 home runs in 374 plate appearances.
Analysis: This is probably just a depth move in case Mike Napoli and Geovany Soto leave via free agency. Schmidt has some pop to his bat but I don't expect him to make an impact with Texas in 2013.
