Brandon League loses closer's role

Sure, League can throw 100 MPH but can he get hitters out?

Seattle Mariners' closer Brandon League has lost his job as the closer today as he blew yet another save for the M's. Manager Eric Wedge announced that the team would go in a different direction at the end of games. He also said there's a possibility that they may go with a closer by committee format. League currently has a 4.43 ERA with 20 games finished and 9 saves. He is/was a trade candidate for this years deadline but his recent performance has dropped his value significantly.

Analysis: I knew League was going to have an off year. He had a breakout year last season and the M's should have traded him in the off-season when his value was high. He is going to be a free agent after this season and the Mariners were almost certainly going to trade him. Now it seems like they might hold off for a little while until he regains his trade value. Its not like they are going to contend this season so they might as well should experiment with their bullpen and find out who their closer for the future will be.
