News: Yesterday, the MLB announced that it may ban the first to third pick off move. They claim it gives an unfair advantage to right handed pitchers. If a rule is passed that bans this move, a pitcher who attempts to try it will called for a balk. Several left handed pitchers have claimed that the move should be banned because it is unfair when they have runners on first and third and they have to do a 1st to 3rd move which is less effective.
Analysis: This is dumb. Why avoid the MLB all of a sudden want to ban the move? Left handed pitchers have always had the advantage of having a good move to first base because they can start their motion to try and catch the runner sleeping. In my opinion, baseball should not can the move, it keeps players on their toes and keeps them from napping on the base paths.
