The Cardinals have designated pitcher Chuckie Fick for assignment. The move creates roster space for pitcher Brian Fuentes, who has been added to the major league roster. Victor Marte was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.Fick has allowed one run in 1 2/3 innings pitched this season. He had a 4.68 ERA in 42 1/3 relief innings for Triple-A this year.
