Cubs acquire Germano from Boston

The Cubs have acquired pitcher Justin Germano from the Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations. Germano was designated for assignment by Boston a few days ago. In a corresponding move, the Cubs designated Jairo Asencio for assignment to create roster space for Germano.

Germano has played in one game for Boston this year, throwing 5.2 scoreless innings in relief.
