Dee Gordon has thumb injury, out 6 weeks

Dodgers' shortstop Dee Gordon will be out for the next six weeks following thumb surgery. He has a torn ligament in his thumb and the injury will require surgery which is scheduled for Friday. The team activated Javy Guerra off of the disabled list in a corresponding move.

Gordon is in his first full season as the Dodgers' everyday shortstop. He is batting .229, but is leading the majors in stolen bases with 30. 

Analysis: This is brutal for Los Angeles. First Kemp, then Ethier, and now Gordon. The Dodgers lost their three best hitters in the matter of weeks and now they will need to make a move to stay in contention. Kemp and Ethier are probably going to return right when the All-Star break is over, but Gordon will out until the end of August. GM Ned Colletti is going to have to go after a shortstop. Maybe Jed Lowrie is an option?
