The Diamondbacks have released veteran infielder Geoff Blum. Blum is in the second season of a two year, $2.7 million contract he signed with Arizona before the 2011 season.Arizona activated Blum off of the disabled list earlier this month and he has played nine games as a pinch hitter and third baseman. He has collected four hits and two walks in 31 plate appearances this year. He is a career .250 hitter with 14 career MLB seasons under his belt.
