Dontrelle Willis to retire

Pitcher Dontrelle Willis is set to retire, according to the Orioles. He has been with the Orioles ever since he inked a minor league deal with them back in March.

He was placed on the restricted list by Baltimore in late April. Willis wanted to be released but the team did not listen to him. He was going to file a grievance but eventually decided to return to the club's farm system.

He owns a career 4.17 ERA with 6.6 K/9 ratio. He has earned over $41 million over the course of his career and will be remembered as one of the biggest what-could-have-been players.

Analysis: This is a shame. When Willis first came up with Florida, he looked like the real deal but once he was shipped to Detroit, his career just went completely downhill. He lost his command and didn't look like the same pitcher. Its sad that he is retiring at 30 years old, but that's part of the game and we will just have to move on from the D-Train.
