The Orioles have designated first baseman Steve Pearce for assignment. This move allows newly-acquired infielder Omar Quintanilla to be added to the 25 man roster.Baltimore acquired Pearce from the Yankees in exchange for cash considerations on June 2. He hit .254 in 83 plate appearances for Baltimore this year.
