The Astros have fired manager Brad Mills. Hitting coach Mike Barnett and first base coach Bobby Meacham has also been let go. Houston has named Triple-A manager Tony DeFrancesco as their big league skipper for the remainder of the season. Dan Radison has been brought aboard as the interim first base coach and Ty Van Burkleo will serve as the interim hitting coach.nMills was hired by Houston prior to the 2010 season. Overall, the team went 171-274 under Mills.
The Astros are completely rebuilding their personnel, including their management. Jim Crane purchased the club last off-season and hired Jeff Luhnow to be his General Manager. Mills was originally under contract through this season and had a club option for 2013.
