The Marlins have designated middle infielder Gil Velazquez for assignment to create roster space for Emilo Bonifacio, who is set to come off of the disabled list.Velazquez has spent most of the season in Triple-A, where he hit .314 in 424 plate appearances. He has seen big league time with the Angels and Red Sox in the past.
