The Blue Jays have designated pitcher Andrew Carpenter for assignment. Toronto recalled shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria and pitcher Jesse Chavez in a corresponding move.Carpenter has spent most of July with the Blue Jays, pitching in nine innings of work. He owns a 3.37 ERA in parts of five Triple-A seasons.
