The Blue Jays have designated pitcher Jesse Chavez for assignment. Chavez was recalled to Toronto over the weekend and pitched a scoreless inning against Oakland on Saturday.Chavez has an 8.44 ERA with 11.4 K/9 in 21 1/3 innings with Toronto this year. Earlier in the season, the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks made the Blue Jays an offer to acquire Chavez, the Toronto declined it.
