The Diamondbacks have released first baseman Lyle Overbay. Arizona designated the 35 year old veteran for assignment last week, and he drew some interest from the Reds and Orioles.Overbay signed a one year, $1 million deal with Arizona last off-season, and he can now sign with any MLB team for the pro-rated portion of the MLB minimum salary.
He has hit .292 in 110 plate appearances this year. He was used as a platoon partner with Paul Goldschmidt over at first base.
