Cesar Izturis clears waivers, elects free agency

The Nationals have announced that infielder Cesar Izturis cleared waivers this afternoon and chose not to accept his outright assignment. He has elected free agency. Washington designated him for assignment three days ago after claiming him off of waivers from the Brewers. 

Izturis has hit .241 in 173 plate appearances for the Brewers and Nationals this season. 

Analysis: Izturis will definitely get picked up by a team. I'm thinking maybe the Athletics? Oakland has been looking for infield depth all season long and Izturis would be a nice fit for them.
