The Sugar Land Skeeters, of an independent league, have signed seven-time Cy Young award winner Roger Clemens. Clemens, 50 , last pitched in the Major Leagues five years ago when he was with the Yankees, and has made multiple attempts at coming back to the show ever since.Clemens had a full workout today and reached 87 mph on the radar gun. He will start Saturday's game, and Agent Randy Hendricks told reporters that Clemens might only pitch in that one game.
"It is a fun thing and let's just see how he does Saturday night," Hendricks said. "That will determine if he pitches for them again."
Earlier this summer, Clemens was acquitted on all charges that he obstructed justice and lied to Congress. Former MLB star Gary Gaetti currently manages the Skeeters, and other former MLB players Scott Kazmir, Jason Lane and Tim Redding have made appearances with the team this year.
Analysis: Wait What? I don't understand this at all. What does Clemens have to prove? Perhaps he is looking to make a comeback to tell everyone that he can pitch well in the big leagues without steroids. In my opinion, I am almost certain that this will not turn out to be anything. He'll probably just pitch this one game and never be seen again.
