Diamondbacks claim Cody Ransom

The Diamondbacks have claimed infielder Cody Ransom off of waivers from the Brewers. Arizona will activate Ransom when the rosters expand tomorrow. This marks the 2nd stint Ransom has had with the Diamondbacks this year. He originally signed a minor league deal with them in the Spring.

Ransom appeared in 64 games with Milwaukee, hitting .214 in 252 plate appearances.

Analysis: Odd move by the Diamondbacks here. If I were GM Kevin Towers, I wouldn't waste a roster spot with Ransom. He is a good defender, but a horrible hitter and isn't very young (36 years old.) I guess veteran experience can't hurt but the club already has John McDonald.
