The Indians announced that they have released veteran pitcher Derek Lowe. Cleveland designated him for assignment ten days ago.Lowe is, according to Jon Heyman, willing to start or relieve. Some reporters believe that he will most likely return to the National League. The Cubs and Red Sox are supposedly not interested in Lowe.
Lowe has posted a 5.52 ERA in 119 innings for Cleveland this year, and will earn a $15 million base salary. However, the Braves and Indians are responsible for his contract this season.
