The Rangers have designated infielder Alberto Gonzalez for assignment. The move creates roster space for Mark Lowe, who is returning from the disabled list.Gonzalez has appeared in 24 games for the Rangers this season, playing third base, second base, and shortstop. He was signed to a minor league deal last off-season, and will be eligible for arbitration after this season.
