The Mets have signed pitcher Andrew Carpenter to a minor league deal. They also assigned him to Double-A. Carpenter elected free agency earlier this week after the Blue Jays designated him for assignment.Carpenter appeared in six games for Toronto in July, and has spent most of the season in Triple-A, where he has posted a 3.38 ERA in 74 2/3 innings as a starter and reliever.
