The Royals have designated shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt for assignment. This move allows Kansas City to call up infielder Tony Abreu from Triple-A.Betancourt rejoined Kansas City this past off-season after being shipped to Milwaukee in the Zack Greinke deal a few years ago. He has hit .232 in 56 games with the Royals this year.
