The Rangers have released pitcher Miguel De Los Santos. Texas designated him for assignment six days ago.De Los Santos posted a 5.22 ERA in 58 2/3 innings with Texas' Double-A affiliate this year. Baseball America ranked De Los Santos as the Rangers' 29th best prospect coming into the season.
Analysis: This is sort of an odd move. His strikeout numbers in the minor leagues are solid, but he does have control issues. That might scare some teams, but I'm sure he'll get signed by someone else. He has nice upside, but will probably be a relief pitcher at best on a major league roster.
