The Red Sox have acquired catcher Guillermo Quiroz from the Mariners in exchange for cash considerations. Quiroz last appeared in the majors with the 2010 Mariners.Quiroz hit .278 in 347 plate appearances in Triple-A this season. He signed as a free agent last December.
Analysis: Quiroz is pretty much a third-string catcher on an MLB team, at best. He does have some pop to his bat, but the Red Sox have better options.
