The Diamondbacks have claimed shortstop Gustavo Nunez off of waivers from the Pirates.Nunez hit a combined .273 in Single-A, Double-A and the Gulf Coast League in 2012. Nunez was formerly a semi-top prospect in Detroit's farm system.
Analysis: Alright, Uhh, I suppose this move can't hurt. I don't know why the Pirates would get rid of this kid, because he is still 24 and has upside, and lets be honest, is probably an upgrade over Clint Barmes. The Diamondbacks have little to no shortstop depth, so Nunez may get some playing time if he can get that batting average up.
