Green, Murphy, Velazquez outrighted to Triple-A

The Marlins have announced that infielders Nick Green (pictured), Gil Velazquez and utility man Donnie Murphy have been outrighted to Triple-A after clearing waivers.

Green hit .174 in 24 plate appearances with the Marlins in 2012 and is career .236 hitter in the big leagues. Murphy hit .216 in 129 plate appearances for Miami in 2012. Lastly, Velazquez hit .232 in 57 plate appearances for Miami in 2012.

Analysis: All three players are pretty much depth players, simply because neither of them can hit at all. They are very versatile and, assuming they stay in the Marlins' organization, should get a chance to make the opening day roster next spring.
