Paulino, Eveland elect free agency

The Orioles have announced that catcher Ronny Paulino and pitcher Dana Eveland have elected free agency after refusing their outright assignments to the minor leagues.

Eveland appeared in 14 games with the Orioles in 2012, posting a 4.73 ERA. Paulino hit .254 in 20 games with Baltimore.

Analysis: Eveland might actually be missed because he provided rotation depth, and Baltimore does not have enough of that. He is a decent pitcher, but I've always seen him as a swing-man at best. Paulino is a good hitter, but had trouble staying healthy and his work ethic may scare a few teams.
