The Pirates have claimed pitcher Chad Beck off of waivers from the Blue Jays. Toronto designated Beck for assignment earlier in the week to create 40 man roster space for Bobby Wilson.Beck spent most of the 2012 season in Triple-A, posting a 1.31 ERA in 48 relief innings.
Analysis: Beck had a great season in the minor leagues and I think this is a decent pick-up. I had a feeling that he would get claimed based on his minor league track record, and I would imagine that that is what Pittsburgh sees in him. The Pirates' bullpen is already strong as it is, so Beck will probably have to fight for a roster spot next spring.
