Tigers expected to exercise Peralta's 2013 option

The Tigers are expected to exercise shortstop Johnny Peralta's club option for the 2013 season. Detroit considers his $6 million option "reasonable", according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.

Peralta hit .239 in 585 plate appearances with Detroit during the 2012 season, and would earn a $500k buyout if Detroit chooses to decline his option.

Analysis: Peralta is a decent shortstop but I feel like the only reason they are bringing him back is because there really aren't any better options available. There is rumor that they could go after Yunel Escobar, but we all know about his attitude problems. At $6 million, I suppose the Tigers could get away with keeping Peralta for one more season.
