Jorge De La Rosa exercises player option

Pitcher Jorge De La Rosa has exercised his player option for the 2013 season. He will earn $11 million, and now has an option worth $11 million for the 2014 season.

De La Rosa has posted a combined 4.39 ERA since signing with Colorado two off-seasons ago. He missed most of the 2012 season because of elbow surgery.

Analysis: Well this must've killed the Rockies. Obviously if I was in De La Rosa's position I'd do the same thing, but he did not earn that money. What a terrible deal for the Rockies-even if he comes back healthy.
