Pirates designate Nate McLouth for assignment

The Pirates have designated outfielder Nate McLouth for assignment. The club recalled 1B/3B Matt Hague in a corresponding move. McLouth signed a one year, $1.75 deal with the Pirates in the off-season after two and half years with Atlanta. He didn't hit in Atlanta and the club elected to not resign him in the off-season.

McLouth should have not find any trouble finding playing time for a different team

Analysis: I'm surprised they did this. McLouth was a decent option for Clint Hurdle to hit late in the game off the bench. I'm sure a team will put a claim on him just because he has a good track record and is capable of putting up good numbers. The outfield market isn't very deep right now so someone will probably put a claim on him.
