Royals sign Doug Davis

Free Agency Signing: The Kansas City Royals have signed left handed pitcher Doug Davis to a minor league deal. Davis started nine games for the Cubs in 2011, posting a 6.50 ERA in 45 2/3 innings. Davis has a career 4.44 ERA in 13 big league seasons with the Rangers, Brewers, Diamondbacks, Cubs and Blue Jays.

Will Davis get a chance to pitch for the Royals this season? Or will he stay in the minors?

Analysis: This isn't really a big signing. Davis will give the Royals some pitching depth and I am pretty certain that he'll start the season in Triple-A. The Royals have been looking for pitching recently and this signing probably just means that Davis would be their backup plan if someone like Jonathon Sanchez or Luke Hochevar continue to struggle.
