Catcher Jason Kendall has retired, according to a Royals press release. Kendall recently signed a minor league deal with Kansas City, and collected one hit in three plate appearances at the Double-A level.Kendall missed the end of the 2010 season and the entire 2011 season to recover from shoulder surgery. He was a three-time All-Star who ranks fifth all-time with 2,025 career games caught.
