The Oakland Athletics have placed shortstop Cliff Pennington on the 15 day disabled list with left elbow tendinitis. The team recalled infielder Eric Sogard from Triple-A in a corresponding move.Pennington has hit .197 with 3 home runs and 16 RBI in 82 games this year.
