The Indians have designated outfielder Johnny Damon for assignment. The move creates roster space for outfielder Ezequiel Cabrera, who has been recalled from Triple-A.Damon signed a minor league deal with Cleveland back in April. He didn't provide much of a spark offensively, hitting just .222 with four homers in 224 plate appearances. Damon now has 2,769 career hits.
