The Tigers have designated Jeff Baker for assignment. The club recalled Avisail Garcia from Double-A in a corresponding move.Baker appeared in 15 games after Detroit acquired him from the Cubs earlier in the month. He played second base and all four corner positions this year, hitting .254 in 181 plate appearances. Baker has a career .298 batting average against lefties.
Analysis: Baker is a pretty good bench player, and I'm sure that he'll be appealing to several teams. I can see the Giants claiming him, considering that they're looking for a right handed hitting outfielder.
